The domain name Carlsbad Cubes dates back to the time when I was working on an embedded system (running Linux on Intel's Xscape processor), which had a cubical enclosure. While we still live in Carlsbad and I'm still doing some work in the embedded / mobile devices space, today, Carlsbad Cubes symbolizes my goals in software and system design: modularity, stability, and simplicity.

My daytime job, Software Architect for a Java based document routing and workflow server (LiquidOffice), is actually pretty cool. Still, Working at Carlsbad Cubes, my digital playground, is a lot of fun, dedicated to excellence, and motivated by enthusiasm to trying new things.

In general, computers are programmable devices able to carry out a variety of procedures, or algorithms. A dedicated device on the other hand is something that is built or programmed to do only a specific procedure, or algorithm.
Carlsbad Cubes Systems ...
Carlsbad Cubes are smart dedicated devices, built and optimized to do only a few things - but do them reliably, efficiently, and correctly.
Carlsbad Cubes Software ...
Carlsbad Cubes are software building blocks for (embedded) systems. Software, based on widely used standards but designed with embedded dedicated hardware in mind.
Carlsbad Cubes Examples:
- Arduino - Physical Computing
Arduino - An open-source platform, Micro-Controller Upgrade, Internal clock and fuse settings - Java Hardware - boards, directly executing Java Byte Code.
- Tiffany Screens - Presentation Sharing for Peer Groups
- Theodore - Development Environment for Thinlets.
- SwixML - a cutting edge GUI generating engine for Java applications.
